The part people rush
Outdoor lighting gets quoted fast and understood slowly. One company is quoting a template, another drew something for your house, and you cannot tell from the page which is which.
Start with the design
The first question is simple: what does the plan for my house look like? If somebody can walk you through why each run is where it is, that is a good sign. A company that cannot is selling you a package.
Ask what the year looks like
Everything mounted outdoors has a day when it needs attention. Ask now who that is. For seasonal work, ask specifically about takedown and off season storage. For permanent systems, ask how the app works and who supports it.
Scope
Some companies only do seasonal work. Others only do landscape. A few do both plus permanent systems. Ask the range before you take the recommendation seriously.
The property type
A house and a storefront are different problems. At a house, it is curb appeal plus practical light. A business wants to be found from the road after sunset, sometimes in brand colors. Ask which one they do more of, then decide whether that matches your job.
What should give you pause
Pressure to sign on the spot is the first flag. If nobody will write down what gets lit, the scope will be argued about later. An unclear answer on what happens when something quits usually means there is
https://evercrestlighting.com/permanent-lighting/ no plan for it.None of that makes anybody a crook. Since the work is not coming down next week, it pays to have it in writing. Two quotes are worth the trouble, as long as you read past the price line. A custom design and a stock package are not the same job, even at the same price. Ask each one what they would leave out if the budget were tighter, because the answer tells you what they think matters.
Ask where they really cover
